Merge Spirituality with Professionalism – Apostle Eric Nyamekye Urges Christian Workers

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Christians to integrate spirituality and professionalism in their work, emphasizing that both are vital for effective service to God and society.

Addressing the theme, “Spiritual, Yet Highly Professional – The Case of Daniel,” at the 2024 Headquarters Management and Staff Retreat/Retirement Service held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh, Apostle Nyamekye urged believers to approach their careers as divine assignments.

“God is not just seeking people to serve within the church but also those who will excel in their fields of work in society,” he stated, referencing Daniel 5:11 and 2 Chronicles 16:9.

Daniel as a Role Model

Using the biblical account of Daniel, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted how Daniel’s intelligence, competence, and deep spirituality made him a trusted advisor in the courts of kings. He pointed out that Daniel’s faith not only distinguished him but also brought him into conflict with corrupt individuals, demonstrating the challenges and rewards of maintaining integrity.

“Daniel’s excellence and faithfulness allowed him to interpret the writing on the wall for King Belshazzar, proving that spirituality and professionalism can coexist to make an individual invaluable,” he said.

Professionalism Defined

Apostle Nyamekye described professionalism as a combination of high-level education, training, and dedication. He emphasized that professionalism also involves accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to ethical behavior.

He encouraged Christians to view their professions as platforms to advance God’s kingdom, calling on them to deliver work of the highest quality as if under God’s watchful eye. “Let us all be highly professional and spiritual,” he concluded, urging believers to let their actions glorify God.

Attendees and Special Guests

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi (General Secretary), Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe (International Missions Director), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (PEMEM Director/Executive Council Member), and Apostle Dr. Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe (La Area Head/Executive Council Member). Other notable attendees included area heads, directors of ministries, apostles, pastors, and staff from the church headquarters.

This gathering marked both a moment of reflection and inspiration, reminding Christian professionals of their dual calling to serve both God and humanity with excellence.
