In a landmark achievement for linguistic and spiritual inclusion, the Bible Society of Ghana has launched the first-ever translation of the Gospel of Mark in the Okere language. The event took place on January 19, 2025, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Adukrom, and drew an audience eager to celebrate this significant milestone.
The launch featured Apostle A.N.Y. Kumi-Larbi, the immediate past General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, as the preacher for the occasion. Highlighting the importance of making God’s Word accessible to all, the Bible Society emphasized its commitment to translating the Scriptures into local languages and formats that resonate with diverse communities.
The Special Guest of Honour, Ahunuabobrim Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, who is the Akuapem Nifahene and Adukromhene, graced the occasion with his presence. His participation underscored the cultural and spiritual significance of the initiative.
“This milestone is a testament to the power of collaboration and faith,” the Bible Society noted. “We are deeply grateful to God and all who supported this noble cause of Bible translation and missionary work.”
