Michael Brown, a Christian author, radio host, and founder of the FIRE School of Ministry, has publicly apologised after allegations surfaced accusing him of inappropriate behavior in the early 2000s.
In a YouTube video posted on 19th December 2024, Brown addressed the claims, acknowledging that he developed an emotional but non-physical bond with a friend’s wife during late 2001 and early 2002.
The accusation came from a widower, referred to as “Ray”, whose wife passed away in 2021.
Brown explained that he confessed his actions to the couple in 2002, and while the situation was not considered adultery, he chose not to disclose it publicly out of respect for those involved.
He emphasized that he had made significant changes to his lifestyle after the incident, including receiving counselling.
In response to separate allegations regarding his interactions with a former FIRE School staffer, identified as “Erin”, Brown expressed deep regret.
Erin, who was 18 when the alleged inappropriate actions began, left the ministry at 21 due to discomfort with Brown’s behavior, which reportedly included physical contact like slapping her buttocks and kissing her.
Brown admitted that while he apologized to her in 2002, he now recognizes the full extent of the harm caused by his actions.
In his video, Brown sought forgiveness from Erin, his staff, and the larger Christian community for the pain and disappointment his actions caused.
He also referenced the biblical story of Peter’s denial of Jesus, reflecting on how his past mistakes have humbled him and deepened his dependence on God.
Brown affirmed that he is fully committed to the ongoing third-party investigation and remains accountable to the leadership of The Line of Fire ministry.
The allegations against Brown, published by The Roys Report, include claims that his behavior with Erin, while non-sexual, was inappropriate due to a lack of judgment.
Brown has denied any adulterous conduct, maintaining that his relationship with Erin was akin to a familial bond, but he acknowledged that his actions were misguided.
To ensure transparency, The Line of Fire Board commissioned a third-party investigation into the allegations, which is ongoing.
Brown also announced that he deactivated his social media accounts until the investigation is concluded.
