Archbishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng, Ghanaian-American religious leader and General Overseer of Divine Word International Ministries, has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his recent electoral victory.
Delivering a sermon in the United States, the Archbishop called on the new administration to prioritize key areas such as investment, infrastructure development, and anti-corruption reforms to transform Ghana into a global success story.
Investment: Unlocking Ghana’s Potential
Archbishop Boateng underscored Ghana’s significant potential to attract private investment. He noted that with a well-structured economic framework, the country could offer far greater returns for investors compared to other global markets. Citing an anecdote from social media, the Archbishop shared how a Nigerian had opted to settle in Ghana over cities like London and Berlin, highlighting the country’s reputation as a land of opportunities.
Infrastructure: A Critical Focus
The Archbishop identified infrastructure—particularly road networks—as an urgent area for attention. He explained that enhancing road connectivity would boost commerce, facilitate business activities, and make Ghana a more competitive destination for investment.
Fighting Corruption for Progress
Addressing corruption, Archbishop Boateng called for stringent reforms and laws to combat fraud. He stressed the need for transparency and accountability to create a system that attracts global investors.
“If we can create a transparent system free of fraud and corruption, Ghana will emerge as a leading destination for global investment,” he said. “The potential is already there; it only needs to be harnessed through good governance.”
Prayers and Advice for President-elect Mahama
Archbishop Boateng prayed for President-elect Mahama’s success and urged him to surround himself with honest and competent advisors. He emphasized the importance of making decisions that promote justice, fairness, and equality for all Ghanaians.
Commending Vice President Bawumia’s Patriotism
The Archbishop also commended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for demonstrating remarkable leadership during the elections. He praised Dr. Bawumia for graciously conceding defeat even before the Electoral Commission’s official declaration, describing the act as a rare example of patriotism and statesmanship in African politics.
“This selfless act by Vice President Bawumia demonstrates his love for Ghana and his commitment to democracy. It is a quality we must celebrate,” Archbishop Boateng noted.
The Black Star: Ghana as a Beacon of Hope
Reflecting on Ghana’s flag, Archbishop Boateng highlighted the prophetic significance of the black star, describing it as a symbol of Ghana’s destiny to lead and inspire the African diaspora. He emphasized Ghana’s role as a spiritual and cultural homeland for black people across the globe.
“The black star is a prophetic symbol of Ghana’s destiny to lead and inspire black people worldwide,” he said. “Ghana is seen as a peaceful and welcoming home by many, and this identity is something we must embrace and nurture.”
A Call to Invest in Ghana’s Future
In conclusion, Archbishop Boateng encouraged his congregation and the international community to choose Ghana as a prime destination for investment. Expressing confidence in the country’s potential, he urged support for leadership and reforms that could position Ghana as a global example of prosperity and progress.
With the right leadership and development strategies, Archbishop Boateng believes Ghana can fulfill its destiny as a beacon of hope for Africa and the world.
