The Church of Jesus Christ Renovates and Equips Dormitory and Kitchen for Tamale Nyohini Children’s Home

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially handed over a renovated and fully equipped boys’ dormitory and kitchen to the Tamale Nyohini Children’s Home.

This initiative, part of the Church’s annual Light the World campaign, is aimed at improving the living standards of children at the Home. It reflects the Church’s commitment to spreading love, hope, and joy through practical acts of service during the Christmas season.

In a statement released in Accra, the Church emphasized its dedication to community service and its mission to uplift the vulnerable, especially during the festive period.

The Tamale Nyohini Children’s Home, which provides a safe haven for children without parental care, has long struggled with inadequate facilities to meet the needs of its growing population. In response to calls for support from the government and other stakeholders, the Church initiated the renovation project last year, beginning with a sod-cutting ceremony as part of its 2023 campaign.

In addition to upgrading the dormitory and kitchen, the Church donated essential supplies, including food items and toiletries, to further enhance the children’s quality of life.

Elder Isaac K. Morrison, Second Counselor of the Africa West Area Presidency of the Church, expressed his joy at the project’s successful completion. He reiterated the Church’s mission to foster goodness and enhance the social, economic, and spiritual well-being of all individuals.

“As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, our mission is to promote goodness and support the social, economic, and spiritual well-being of all God’s children,” Elder Morrison stated. He encouraged the Home’s management to maintain the renovated facilities for the benefit of future generations and to continue fostering peace and love, especially during the festive and election seasons.

Madam Annunciata M.Z. Anglaaere, Acting Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, expressed profound gratitude for the Church’s intervention.

“The renovated dormitory and kitchen will greatly improve the children’s daily lives, providing them with a sense of dignity and hope for a brighter future,” she remarked.

Madam Anglaaere commended the Church for its selfless service, describing it as a testament to faith and compassion. She added that the Church’s actions embody Christ’s teachings of caring for the vulnerable and marginalized.
