GPCC Chairman Leads Delegation to Congratulate President-Elect Mahama

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) and the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, led a delegation on Monday to pay a courtesy call on President-elect John Dramani Mahama. The visit was to extend congratulations on his victory in the December 7 general elections.

During the meeting, Apostle Nyamekye assured the President-elect of the GPCC’s readiness to support his administration in advancing the nation. Emphasizing the importance of seizing opportunities, he said, “Opportunity is sometimes described as time. Others have opportunity but not time, but you have both. Take this opportunity and take this time.”

He encouraged the President-elect to rely on God’s guidance in his leadership, adding that experience alone is not enough for success.

In response, President-elect Mahama expressed appreciation for the visit and reiterated the significance of the National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer. He urged the clergy to take a leading role in this initiative, emphasizing its importance in uniting the nation.

“We don’t expect it to be solely a government business. I am grateful for the opportunity to sit back and come back to do better,” President-elect Mahama stated. He prayed for grace and wisdom to make the most of this second opportunity to serve the country.

President-elect Mahama highlighted the need to restore public confidence in governmental institutions, which, according to him, had declined in recent years.

He announced plans to establish a Government Advisory Council tasked with producing an annual report on the state of affairs to guide national direction.

“My office is open, and you can always provide not only spiritual but physical guidance,” he added, welcoming collaboration with the clergy.

The meeting underscored the mutual commitment between the Church and the government to work together for national development and unity.
